What guides every session?
Inclusivity
Our classes are designed for individuality and diversity.
Within the structure of our lessons, students are encouraged to respond, engage and create in ways that best suit their form of expression, developmental capabilities, confidence and experience.
Mindful Engagement
The Arts is a language to communicate and reflect on the world around us. Our lessons inspire creativity, critical thinking, aesthetic knowledge and expression. Across the term, students make connections and develop artistic forms of communication in a respectful and mindfull way.
Peer Connection
Participating in weekly classes in a term-by-term or annual basis creates opportunities for our students to develop connections and build relationships with a diverse circle of peers.
Creativity
Through the arts, people share stories, ideas, knowledge and understanding. The arts engage our senses and give us ways to imagine, celebrate, communicate and challenge ways of knowing, being, doing and becoming.
Classes that fit your family's rhythm
At Every Body Tells a Story, creativity and narrative are beautifully intertwined—every gesture, sound, image and performance sparks a story.
We believe arts education feels personal, flexible and led by curiosity. Every session invites your child to engage, create and connect at their own pace, across Dance, Drama, Visual Arts, Music and Media Arts forms.
From weekly term-time lessons, to holiday intensives and themed workshops, there's a way in for every family and every comfort level.
Group bookings for established home school groups and co-ops can be arranged.

My name is Megan Humphris, and I am the founder of ‘Every Body tells a Story’. The Five Arts Stands
Every session draws on the Victorian Curriculum's five Arts strands, so the time your child spends creating also counts toward their learning plan.

Dance
Using the body to communicate and express meaning — children learn as both artist and audience, building coordination and body awareness.
02
Drama
Exploring personal, social and imagined worlds through role and story. Children build confidence, self-esteem and collaborative skills.
03
Visual Arts
Creating artworks that communicate and challenge ideas. Children develop practical technique, problem-solving and visual literacy.
(Future offering)
04
Music
Listening, composing and performing as a uniquely aural art form. Children build creativity, aesthetic appreciation and social skills through sound.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. At ‘Every Body Tells a Story’ we live by our name. Art is critiqued by how successfully it informs, entertains, and communicates with an audience, not by how well they point their toes or how many turns they can do.
Technique and form will be explored when it is necessary to the method of expression.
Everyone is responsible for the safety of ourselves and each other in all arts spaces.
-
Just like any artistic endeavor, the artist needs a space in which they have permission to take risks and explore the art form with as few eyes on the process as possible.
Open weeks will take place at the end of each term. These sessions will be an opportunity for students to present what they have been working on.
-
Yes and No.
You know better than anyone the dynamic your children have with each other. The reasons for your children to engage with these creative and performing arts lessons will differ for each of them. I encourage families to allow each child the opportunity to participate without their siblings and establish new relationships.
The safety of the students in the class is also something to consider. Older students move and interact in and around the space differently from smaller and younger ones. The themes, emotions, and experiences that come up in the sessions will also vary between age groups.
NOTE: Please check out the booking options for established home-schooling families/groups, if you are enrolling as an established co-op group with multi age learners who would like to stay together as a “performance troope”.

No sequins here…well, unless they are used as scales on a fish puppet!
Clothing
Students should wear clothing that is comfortable to move around in. Please keep in mind that students will be spinning, rolling, leaping, crawling and balancing and their body needs be be able to move freely and safely.
Jewellery and other accessories
It is a requirement that students remove any excessive jewellery that may be unsafe, such as dangle or hoop earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
Shoes and socks
Lessons will contain both dance and drama curriculum, which require different footwear. Please arrive with soft sole shoes that can easily be removed and put back on independently. Students are welcome to wear any dance specific footwear (no tap shoes please) although these are not required.
-
The show must go on!
But also, in the real world, sometimes things just happen!
A core fundamental element of a successful performing arts cast is trust. We make a commitment to the project and our fellow artists that we will be there to contribute to the process and the product. Each week students will build on elements from previous weeks and often these are done as a group. If students are away if can impact the progress. I encourage attendance to the lesson to be part of the process and to play the role as reflective audience member if there is a small injury that is not going to be made worse by participating in the activities that require less movement. Developing an awareness of our limits but also what our bodies and minds are capable of builds grit and resilience. Sometimes a broken arm or rolled ankle presents the opportunity to adjust and problem solve when faced with a challenge.
Unexpected illness or life events will occur.
